Solar Power Plant

The German company Kirchner Solar-Group will spend more than US$100 million to install a solar energy project in Monte Plata (east), to produce 200 megawatts to the National Interconnected Electrical System in the next three years.
In the first stage the group will install a 30 megawatt plant within six months starting in October, said Group president Lars Kirchner. “This project will place Monte Plata province and the country on the world map of nations that are taking firm steps to meet the challenges of the Millennium.”
The executive said the work will spur the region’s development and create around 500 fixed and indirect jobs.
Kirchner said the private capital investment will improve the country’s power system, with cleaner and cheaper energy, which would be sold to the State-owned Power Companies
